5 Things You Can Do Right Now To Save Time

I'm a self-taught expert, having learned from my many mistakes, and I'm a semi-professional in time management.  I can tell you about Full Focus, the Eisenhower Matrix, Getting Things Done, Pomodoro, time blocking, and more—all of that to say this.  There is no perfect method, and there is no magic bullet.  But I will share with you a few things that I know quickly.

Work on it all the time. Even if you find something that works for you, continue to tweak it.  Times and technology are changing - keep up.

Use Tech.  I started with a now-defunct program called Wunderlist.  Eventually, my technology had to evolve to meet my needs.  Spend a few bucks if you have to.

Identify Distractions and delegate them.  - Telephone, email, text messages, knock on your office door, and more!  Identify them and deal with them.  Better yet, find someone who enjoys doing that and let them do it.

No - Stop saying yes to everything.  If you work at a job where you are paid to say yes to everything, consider getting a new one.  If you are overwhelmed, say no until you are caught up.  Keep saying no until your life gets better.  If you say no long enough, you will be able to say yes to something better.

Manage your dead time.  - What is dead time?  What you do while you drive your car to and from work.  Sitting in a doctor's office.  Stuck in traffic.  Do something constructive during those times.  Listen to an audiobook.  Have a serious conversation with your spouse.

Get some sleep. Different people have different needs but know what yours are and cater to them.   When you are healthy, you can produce better results.  When you are tired, you are more likely to make mistakes, cut corners, and give up.  Not good.
