Imagine you’re about to launch a BIG project. But what exactly makes it so BIG?
-
Are you leading a team of people who are counting on you?
-
Are you taking on personal risk to achieve your goal?
-
Are you prepared to make real sacrifices to reach the finish line?
When a project makes you catch your breath or whisper, “What have I gotten myself into?”—you’ve stepped into BIG territory.
Before you charge ahead, it’s wise to pause and wrestle with four essential questions:
#1 – Who’s going to do it?
Just because you have a group doesn’t mean you have a team. How will you intentionally build a team before you start? Who’s on board, who needs to be, and what roles will they play?
#2 – What exactly are you doing?
What’s the clear goal—and even more importantly, what’s the purpose behind this project? If you want people to rally around your vision, give them a compelling “why.” Start with the end in mind.
#3 – What are the boundaries?
Shortcuts might look tempting, but they often cheapen or even sabotage success. Set clear parameters for what’s acceptable and expected, and communicate them well. Integrity matters.
#4 – How will you get it done?
This isn’t just a repeat of the goal question—it’s about strategy. What’s your roadmap? Can you break the big dream into bold, bite-sized chunks that your team can see and tackle with confidence?
Answering these four questions might spark another forty. That’s a good thing. Because clarity is power—and the person who needs that clarity most is you.
